On the 31st of October 2024, Special Olympics Nigeria proudly hosted a Healthy Athlete Screening under the Opening Eyes discipline at National Orthopaedic Special School Igbobi Lagos, an initiative designed to enhance eye health for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).

This impactful program goes beyond providing essential eye care. It seeks to positively influence the attitudes of eye care professionals, including optometrists, ophthalmologists, opticians, and students, toward caring for individuals with IDD.

The dedicated clinical volunteers not only provided vision screenings and support but also educated athletes, their guardians, and coaches on how critical good vision is to excel in sports, school, and work.
