Sports for Hope project Kicks Off!

Sports for Hope project Kicks Off!

On Saturday 31st August 2019, the Sports For Hope project had its official kick-off ceremony at Igbobi College, Lagos.

The initiative which is sponsored by The Embassy of France in Nigeria, through the Innovative Projects of Civil Societies and Coalitions of Actors (PISCCA) fund, is a unified initiative. It targets youth with and without intellectual disabilities like a buddy system. The initiative will be implemented in 8 communities across Lagos State: Agege, Ajegunle, Bariga, Ikorodu, Isale Eko, Isolo, Mushin and Surulere.  Our goal is to promote inclusion, health improvement, and empowerment among these youth, and other members of their communities.

There was a special music performance by our athlete Lekan Ogunkoya, who played the keyboard   and a motivational speech by Phillip Fasanya from Cordros Capital Limited, one of our partners.

The attendees had a lot of fun competing in both volleyball and football, as well as a dance competition.

The beneficiaries of the Sports for Hope initiative will meet weekly in their various communities, to learn new skills and establish a healthy lifestyle through participating in Football and Volleyball sports training and competition. They will also be provided information from the the educational and motivational sessions which cover topics such as Mental Health, Nutrition, Entrepreneurship and more. These are designed to equip and inspire participants to make better life choices.
