Special Olympics Nigeria Held Athlete Leadership Program

Special Olympics Nigeria Held Athlete Leadership Program

The objective of athlete leadership is to prepare athletes to undertake meaningful positions of influence and leadership throughout the Special Olympics movement both on and off the playing field through training and practical experiences.

The Special Olympics movement has evolved from been a movement for athletes alone to a movement championed by athletes themselves, as they are the one who can tell their story better than anyone could.

The first Athlete Leadership training Program for 2018 was held on the 23rd of October 2018 in the Special Olympics Nigeria office at 9, Royal Palm Drive, Osborne Estate, Ikoyi, Lagos with 12 Special Olympics Nigeria athletes in attendance.

This training focused on the Special Olympics movement, introductory courses to athlete leadership, and Global Messenger (Public Speaking) Training. At the end athletes indicated areas of interests to which future leadership courses will be tailored.
