Promoting good nutrition and healthy lifestyles in Jos, Plateau State - Family Health Forum

Special Olympics Nigeria organised a one-day interactive Family Health Forum event for parents/caregivers of people with intellectual disabilities on the 18th of May 2019 at Open Doors for Special Learners, Jos, Plateau State, themed "Nutrition and Healthy Lifestyle ". 

The event was anchored by the Special Olympics Nigeria Project Coordinator Sylvester Oboh who spoke on the history of Special Olympics Nigeria. Obianuju Asiodu the Manager, Health Programs introduced the objectives of the health initiatives of the organisation. Also, a Dietitian from the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) Uzoamaka Okaro educated all present on nutrition and a healthy lifestyle. The Zonal Coordinator of the National Health Insurance Scheme Aileen Blama educated parents on the importance and benefits of the health insurance scheme and how to navigate the general health system.

Over 100 parents, athletes and partners were present at the event and they were full of gratitude to Special Olympics Nigeria for providing them with the relevant information needed for their all round well being.
