Road to 2023 Special Olympics World Summer Games in Germany

The journey to the 2023 Special Olympics World Summer Games in Germany has already started as students from the Ondo State School for the intellectually Impaired, Okeigbo, Ondo State had their School Sports Day Competition on the 11th of October 2019.

SO Nigeria was on ground to ensure the event was a success. Seventy-five (75) athletes from the school competed in athletics and football for the opportunity of advancement to the Regional Games. Athletes were at their best and live out the Special Olympics oath which says, “Let me win, but if I cannot win, let me be brave at the attempt” during the competition.

A mini-coaches training was organized for volunteers in the school to learn the rudiments of Badminton and Volleyball to enable them provide quality sports training for athletes interested in these sports. Special Olympics Nigeria also donated Badminton and Volleyball nets to the school.

The Sports Sport Day Competitions is also slated to hold in various schools and centers across Nigeria.
