Regional Games

Delegation fron the South-South region at the National Games.

The Special Olympic Nigeria Regional Games is one of the major sports events for people with intellectual disabilities in different regions of the country. Sports training and competitions are organized within the respective regions where winners are selected for the regional events. The Regional Games provide countless examples of the joy, excitement and achievement of competition, but they are much more than just sport.

Sport is at the core of our mission, because through sports, Special Olympics can affect the attitudes of athletes, their families and everyone around them. These Games provide unique opportunities to advance society’s understanding of athletes’ abilities and acceptance of people with intellectual disabilities. The last Regional games were held in 2013 in the South West, South East and South-South geo-political zones of Nigeria.
